Onrus Beach was welcomed the 3rd leg of the All Gold Hot Summer of Touch on Sunday and holdiay makers were treated to a day packed with action and fun…

Tommy the Tomato made his first appearance on tour and he set the tone for a great day of Touch.

Because of the limited space on Onrus, 2 fields meant a very compact straight knockout draw. This didnt deter the players and 43 teams entered into the competition…

All sections were hotly contested…

The junior section was won by the Beach Barbarians who narrowly beat the Stellie Drifters in the final by two tries to nil.

The Samurai Warriors overcame “Team Impact” bu three tries to nil in the Open section.

Whilst the final of the Pro Series went down to a sudden death drop-off with the Score Living Legends edging out the Vigo Warriors with a one – nil scoreline.

The action now heads off to Struis Baai where the action takes place on the grass on Tuesday 23 December.

Travel safe everyone!

What a day at Strand Beach!!! 59 Teams took part in what was the biggest Touch Tournament in the Strand for some time!

With the Pro Series taking a break, the tournament gave some of the upcoming players and teams an opportunity to mix it up with the big guns and man they didn’t disappoint with some spectacular upsets before the latter end of the tournament.

The Junior section is fast becoming a major part of the series with 17 teams lining up… The Tribal Kingz and the New Born Squirrels seem to be the teams to beat in this section and the expectation for the next leg in Onrus is tangible.

At the end of the day the Strand event was won by the hometown favourites, The Score Living Legends. They beat the Dwergies by the narrowest of one nil margins.

The Junior section was won by the Tribal Kingz who beat the GFR Jnr’s by three tries to two.

The Plate was won by Team Warrior who beat the New Borne Rebels in the final.

See you all at Onrus on Sunday!

A brisk South Easterly wind greeted the crew, players and spectators at the Camps Bay beach on Sunday. Whilst the wind stuck around the whole day, it was not strong enough to deter the players and fans from witnessing some of the most exciting touch seen for a long time…

In what is fast becoming a highlight for spectators, the under 15 section attracted 13 teams and these kids showed their metal with some excilerating touch being played.

The four Semi finalists were the AGW juniors, the The Rangers, the Beach Barbarians and the New Borne Squirrels. The New Borne Squirrels continued their good form from 2013 by edging out the AGW juniors by one try to nil.

The Open section was easily the most competitive in years with massive amounts of talent on offer… This section was eventually won by the Samurai Warriors who defeated Team GFR in the final by one try to nil.

The plate competition was won by team Impact who defeated the Almacassari in the final by two tries to nil.

The highlight of the day was naturally the Pro Series. With lots to play for, tempers flared and the occasion threatedned to get the better of the players and spectators. The final was contested by the Amazing Galaxy Warriors (AGW), playing at their “home ground” in Camps Bay and the VIGO Warriors who overcame the reigning champions, the Score Living Legends, after a mammoth ten minute sudden death drop-off in the Semi Final.

After going two nil up in the second half, the Vigo Warriors seemed to relax giving the AGW the opportunity to come back into the game. An equalising try came in the final seconds of normal time taking the game into sudden death. The game was finally won by the Vigo Warriors who now take a three point lead into the next Pro Series leg at Onrus on Sunday.

The All Gold Hot Summer of Touch moves to the Strand on Tuesday 16th where an Open competition with Plate and Juniors section will take place. There will be no Pro Series competition… Registration takes place from 07h45 and entries are on a first come first served basis.

See you all on Tuesday!
