HOT SUMMER OF TOUCH
Three (3) weeks of early mornings and late nights. Seven (7) events with exhilarating Touch and the best fun ever was experienced by over 400 teams, 100 000 spectators and 20 very tired Crew members!
The action culminated at Hartenbos on the 31st of December and once again the ATKV Amphitheater was the scene for some dramatic Touch Action!
56 Teams took part in this annual highlight for the region and the Series Winning Score Living Legends once again stole the headlines with their fifth title in seven events on the 2016 Series.
They took on the local heroes, the Garden Route Saints, who once again pushed the Legends all the way. The deciding try coming in the Sudden Death drop-off. Final Score 2-1 to the Legends.
The Plate was won by “The Question” who beat the Scrum and Coke team 3-2
The Junior Division was convincingly won by the Perfect Gents Jnr who beat the Dery Devils 8-1 in the Final
A new innovation which looks set to become a feature in next years series was the Over 40’s section. This was won by a very tired bunch of Ou Toppies called “Under 10 Seconds”
Thanks you to all the sponsors; #urbanart #vodacom #mitsubishisouthafrica, Powerade, Western and DieBurger, referees, crew members, mc’s, sound crews, councilors, Local municipalities, municipal managers, beach managers, beach cleaners, life savers, law enforcement officers, local police, traffic officers, spectators and families of all players and anyone else associated with the series. It really has been a great success and we look forward to seeing you all in December 2017!
