Nomads Take Stilbaai And Amazing Galaxy Warriors Take Pro Series

Some early morningdrizzle did not deter any of the participants or spectators at the thirty second Stilbaai Touchies.

68 Teams entered the tournament in search of what is regarded as the most coveted title in Touch Rugby in South Africa.

The Open Tournament Final was contested between the Beach Lions and the Touch Formers second team with the Touch Formers showing their class by taking their second title of the series by winning 1-0.

With the Pro Series Grand Prix Title up for grabs, their was more at stake than usual and the Amazing Galaxy Warriors were always going to be tough to beat starting the day 1 point clear of the Maynardt Touchies and 6 points clear of the Cape Storm Nomads.

As soon as they qualified for the Semi Finals, it meant that the Nomads were ourt of the running and when the Nomads beat the Maynardt Touchies in the Semi’s, the overall title was then safe for the “Warriors”.

With the overall title decided, the final proved to be the most entertaining of the series with the Cape Storm Nomads taking the coveted title in a sudden death drop off. The Final score was 3-2.

The action now moves to Mossel Bay on Wednesday the 29th at the Diaz Beach Resort.
